I'm an internet junkie that is obsessed with books. I own more than I will ever read in this lifetime and yet I'm still compelled
to buy more. I read mostly romance (mild to completely smutty), YA and urban fantasy.
I'm not sure how many people here even remember me since I've been away so long. But just in case anyone does I want to give a little overview of why I have been absent and away from the interwebz and books in general over the last year and a half.
In July of 2014 the police raided my family's home and my father was arrested for sharing and possessing child pornography. This came as a total shock to my mom, sisters and I. As I'm sure you can imagine our lives as we knew it were completely destroyed.
I have pretty severe OCD and was not working at the time this happened because I had no idea how to control it. But after the arrest I went back to work. To say I learned how to control it one day at a time is an understatement. It was a struggle and even though I'm doing very well at my job and have amazing coworkers I still have days where I struggle with it. I discovered in a most extreme circumstance that I am stronger than I realized. And that I was capable of more than I even thought possible.
I'm pleased to say that we are all doing well now. We had to move out of the family home but my mom, sisters and I have managed pretty well for ourselves.
I still hope that my father will get the jail time he deserves, but the justice system is taking it's sweet time actually sending him to trial so as of this moment we have no closure on that front.
One of the strange blessings of this whole life changing experience is that I met and fell in love with a very wonderful man that would do just about anything in the world for me. So even after things got back on an even keel, you could say I was still a bit distracted from my previous book-loving habits.
I guess the point of this post was just to explain why I've been absent and also to just get some of my feelings about everything out in the open. If you actually took the time to read all this, thanks!
