Tackling Mt. TBR

I'm an internet junkie that is obsessed with books. I own more than I will ever read in this lifetime and yet I'm still compelled
to buy more. I read mostly romance (mild to completely smutty), YA and urban fantasy.

Hell & High Water [Review]

Hell & High Water (THIRDS Book 1) - Charlie Cochet

Awesome, fabulous, amazing!

Those were the first three words that came to mind when I was trying to decide what to say about this book. I had read several good reviews about this book and picked it up even though I haven't read anything paranormal in forever and thought maybe I was done with the sub-genre all together. It turns out I wasn't done with it at all, I just had not found the right book. THIS was it.

One thing I adore about this book is that it completely bucks most of the stereotypical paranormal book stuff I've read dozens of times before. There are no fated mates, nobody has to learn there is a whole world of shifters they never knew about, there is no big long passage where the shifter has to explain all about their species to the human... etc.

I love that the relationship between Dex and Sloane feels sort of natural. The fact that Sloane can shift into an animal isn't really the center of the relationship nor is it the reason for the conflicts between them. It was a lovely breath of fresh air.

Dex is such a fun character. He's one of those people that when you first meet them they get on your nerves but then over time you end up loving them. That is actually pretty much what happens to Sloane as well.

I love the entire THIRDS team and I can see so much potential for future books involving other characters or even spin-offs if that is the way the author decides to go. I'm pretty sure most people after reading this book are dying to read something focused on Ash and Cael.

The only thing that bums me out is that I have to wait for the next book to come out. I'm not ready to leave this world behind yet.
